My Story

Curious about Joey’s journey and how he ended up looking the way he does? Let me unveil Joey’s story for you.
Joey, a winter kitten, was found on the streets of Chengdu in the winter of 2022. This was during a challenging time as Chengdu was under pandemic lockdown, making everything even more difficult. On a cold night, a rescuer discovered Joey and his three siblings. Sadly, two of the kittens passed away within a short time, and Joey faced significant survival challenges.
His eyes were nearly swollen shut, with eyelids turned outwards, indicating a severe condition. After some twists and turns, he was diagnosed with calicivirus. Despite treatment, his condition didn’t improve significantly.
Once the lockdown lifted, Joey was taken to a specialized veterinary eye clinic. After thorough examinations, the vet diagnosed him with uveitis and designed a treatment plan. The process was painful; he needed eye drops every hour. While one eye recovered, the other started growing and hardening abnormally.
Facing this situation, the vet performed a puncture surgery to relieve eye pressure. However, shortly after the surgery, the eye started growing again, and pressure increased. Such repeated puncture surgeries were agonizing for Joey. After several operations, the vet suggested a more complex surgery: creating a drainage channel on the side of the eyeball.
The surgery was successful, and Joey’s condition gradually stabilized and improved. Although his right eye couldn’t return to normal size, his vision and light sensitivity were good, and eye pressure remained normal.
However, Joey’s ordeal wasn’t over. He has been hospitalized since he was two months old, spending 1 year and 2 months in a cage. During this time, he underwent spaying and vaccination, but what he desires most is the warmth and companionship of a loving home.
Joey is now healthy and lively, needing only a loving and accepting new home – a place that can provide him with everlasting happiness and warmth. If you’re willing to be Joey’s new parent, please get in touch with us. Let’s together weave a beautiful future for Joey.
